Sarah Michelle Gellar went to see Kylie Minogue’s Las Vegas residency at the Voltaire at The Venetian this week, and her Instagram post about it is genuinely delightful. She went with a small group — Food Network’s Stephen Lowry, cake entrepreneur JRD Sullivan, and Wolf Pack creator Jeff Davis — and by all accounts had an absolute night of it.
The caption says it all: “Vegas high!! If you can, go see @kylieminogue at @venetianvegas The theatre they built @voltairelv is amazing. It’s a major vibe. Best night with my boys and the woman I call #mother.”
The photos are on her Instagram and they’re worth a look — both women look incredible. Kylie was still in full stage costume (sparkly animal print catsuit, over-the-knee boots), while SMG went for a gold sequinned mini dress and strappy sandals. They posed for photos together after the show and Kylie responded to the post with a simple “Yes SMG. Loved meeting you all.” which is the most Kylie Minogue response imaginable.
The comments, as you’d expect from the intersection of the Buffy fandom and the Kylie fandom, were a complete meltdown in the best possible way.
Kylie’s Vegas shows have been such a success that the venue has had to increase capacity by 20 per cent to keep up with demand — an extra 200 fans per show through general admission and floor tables. If you’re anywhere near Las Vegas it sounds like a non-negotiable.
