Bam Smack Pow has done the brave thing and ranked all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer from worst to best — and the results are genuinely interesting. Here’s how writer Camila Servello called it:

Season 3 at the top is a pretty defensible pick — the Mayor is one of the all-time great Big Bads, the gang is at their most cohesive, and it’s a genuinely satisfying end to the high school era. Season 1 coming in at number 2 is the more surprising call, ranking above Season 2 (Angelus! Passion! Becoming!) and Season 5 (The Body, Glory, Buffy’s sacrifice). That’ll ruffle some feathers.
Season 6 at the bottom is a popular opinion but not a universal one — Once More With Feeling alone earns it some serious defenders.
