Okay, I’m not going to lie — when I heard the Buffy cast was getting back together for a new audio story, I let out an actual yelp. And now it’s here. Slayers: A Buffyverse Story officially dropped on Audible today (October 12th) and I’ve already lost my entire morning to it.
So here’s the deal: the story picks up about 10 years after the Sunnydale hellmouth went boom, and it’s told through Spike’s perspective. James Marsters is back, naturally, and he’s absolutely fantastic — which, let’s be honest, we knew he would be. Spike’s gone deep undercover in LA trying to pass himself off as properly evil again, which is both hilarious and kind of heartbreaking in that very Spike way.
But the part that genuinely melted my brain? Charisma Carpenter is back as Cordelia — except this version of Cordy is THE Slayer in a parallel reality where Buffy never existed. I did not know I needed that until right now, and I need it desperately. Juliet Landau is also back as Drusilla as the big bad, which is just *chef’s kiss*.
The rest of the returning cast is pretty stacked too — Anthony Head as Giles (obviously), Amber Benson as Tara (who also co-wrote the whole thing with Christopher Golden!), Emma Caulfield Ford as Anya, and even Danny Strong coming back as ghost Jonathan. Ghost Jonathan! This show really said “yes, all of it.”
