Shannen Doherty turned 52 this week, and Sarah Michelle Gellar marked the occasion the only way she knows how: with a slideshow of photos on Instagram that capture exactly the kind of friendship these two have built.
“It’s your birthday @theshando so in honor of you, here is a slideshow of some of our more ridiculous stunts,” Gellar wrote. “(Swipe right) Any suggestions for new ones?” The photos include the two of them attempting the viral wine glass challenge and hanging out poolside together. They look like exactly what they are: two women who genuinely love each other and aren’t above being completely ridiculous together.
Gellar and Doherty have been close friends for many years. In a 2020 joint interview with ET, Gellar spoke about what the friendship means to her: “To have someone that believes in me the way you do when I don’t believe in myself and that shows me how to fight for the things that are important to me — I’m very lucky.”
It’s a lovely tribute from one icon to another. Happy birthday, Shannen.
